Amy Tappenden

MChiro, MRCC, LRCC(Animal)

amy is a qualified and registered chiropractor

Amy grew up in East Dorset and originally trained as a massage and beauty therapist at Bournemouth and Poole college. After receiving chiropractic treatment herself for headaches and lower back pain, she was incredibly impressed by the speed and efficiency of the treatment benefits and decided to extend her skills as a manual therapist.

Amy entered 5 years of university study and graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in 2014 with a Masters degree in Chiropractic. She is registered with the GCC and completes Continuing Professional Development annually. Since qualifying, she has completed a year post-registration training with the Royal College of Chiropractors (RCC), making her a Member of the RCC.

Amy has also completed an intensive training course with the International Academy of Veterinary Chiropractic (IAVC) to qualify as an animal chiropractor. The IAVC only teach animal chiropractic to qualified chiropractors and veterinary surgeons due to the complexity of the anatomy and biomechanics required. Alongside this, Amy is registered with RAMP (Register of Animal Musculoskeletal Practitioners) and is a Licenciate of the RCC’s Animal Faculty. She was also the acting director of academic affairs for the Animal Faculty in 2021-22.

Amy has ridden horses since the age of 6, and still owns her first pony. She competed on a regular basis in showjumping and cross-country at local shows and with the Poole & District pony club in the mounted games and showjumping teams. She has also always had dogs, and currently has a dog and a rabbit. She enjoys dog agility with Sophie the Sheltie.
